The Lab is comprised of 4 main components:
Our 500-HR program includes 6 weekends of in-person training, 80 hours of observation, 100 hours of personal practice, and 200 hours of teaching. Throughout the training program and beyond, students will have access to their teacher trainer for questions, additional training, mentorship and ongoing job support. We are 100% committed to you and your Pilates teaching journey.
1.
In-STUDIO LECTURE
Over the course of 6 weekends we will learn Anatomy, History of Pilates/Scope of Practice (as required by the PMA®), and a breakdown of every exercise according to choreography, muscle focus, and contraindications. We also spend time learning how to put together programming for 1:1 sessions, small group training (a Nephesh Pilates specialty) and classes.
2.
PERSONAL PRACTICE
A minimum of 100 hours practicing on your own. You can complete personal practice hours at home, in the studio or following along with an online platform. Personal practice hours are meant for you to feel the exercises in your own body so that you can learn to teach them from the perspective of having done them yourself.
3.
TEACHING
These 200 (or more) hours are where you will learn how to find your teaching voice and style. We encourage you after the first weekend of lecture to begin teaching people. Anyone you can get your hands on: friends, family, partners… anybody. The more bodies that you can see and teach, the better off you’ll be when you test out and look for a job.
4.
Observation
You can complete your 80 observations hours at Nephesh Pilates where it’s included in your training tuition, at another studio, and by watching teachers on approved online platforms. Watching experienced teachers teach is one of the best ways to learn how to format sessions and guide people through their workouts. During observation at Nephesh Pilates, you’ll have the opportunity to chat with our teachers after classes or sessions to ask questions.
When your hours are complete, you will schedule a date to take your exam. Upon passing both a written and practical exam you will be a Certified Pilates Teacher.
